Posted Sat Mar 14 2009: from London Daily Telegraph: Traffic can cause heart attacks, study claims http://apocadocs.com/s.pl?1237054984 Researchers found that people were three times more likely to have an attack if they had recently spent time on the roads, possibly because of the exhaust fumes and other pollution they inhaled. Women were more at risk than men - five times more likely than normal to suffer a heart attack if they had been exposed to traffic within the preceeding hour.... "One potential factor could be the exhaust and air pollution coming from other cars," Said Dr Annette Peters, head of the research unit at the Institute of Epidemiology, Helmholtz Zentrum Muchen, Germany, who led the study, "but we can't exclude the synergy between stress and air pollution that could tip the balance."
