Posted Mon Oct 13 2008: from Daily News (South Africa): Mystery virus came from mice http://apocadocs.com/s.pl?1223909407 Test results have shown that the disease which has killed at least three people in Johannesburg hospitals is one of the rodent-borne Arena viruses -- a family of viruses that includes Lassa fever. The Arena virus is carried by wild rodents (multimammate mice) and is shed in urine or droppings. The tests were conducted at US Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta and the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) in Johannesburg and the results were made public yesterday.
