Posted Thu May 15 2008: from Metro.co.uk (Great Britain): Alarm over dramatic wildlife decline http://apocadocs.com/s.pl?1210891414 There are almost a third fewer animal, bird and fish species today than three decades ago, an alarming new report has revealed. According to the WWF's Living Planet Index, land-based, marine and freshwater species fell overall by 27 per cent between 1970 and 2005. The report comes ahead of the UN Convention on Biological Diversity next week, which will discuss aims to achieve a "significant reduction" in the current rate of biodiversity loss by 2010.
